Qatar currently plays a prominent and effective role in the fields of sport and is investing in sport as a means to improve the formation of relationships and strengthen friendships with countries around the world.

Qatar has expressed its desire clearly and effectively to all countries of the world and has established within its general agenda a state of openness and aspiration to improve relations between nations through sport.

The State of Qatar pays great attention to the sports aspect, as it has allocated a day for it called (State Sports Day) that corresponds to Tuesday of the second week of February every year, a day called (National Sports Day), in which everyone is urged to practice sports and all departments and state institutions are suspended. Ministries and government agencies and all entities operating in the state, including the private sector, undertake the organization of sporting and mobility events on the State’s Sports Day, in which workers and their affiliates participate, in proportion to their conditions and ages, to achieve awareness of the importance of sport and its role in the lives of individuals and societies.

Qatar Olympic Committee.

The Qatar National Olympic Committee undertakes the administrative and technical supervision of federations and sports institutions in the country, including (24) sports federations and bodies, (12) first-class sports clubs, and (7) second-class clubs, which have provided them with all the human and material capabilities to play their roles. The Olympic Committee also supervises the Girl’s Sports Committee.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy undertakes the task of completing the projects and stadiums nominated to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament. Its tasks also include ensuring that the preparations for the tournament are in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and the focus of the Supreme Committee is currently on achieving the goals. It was placed in its strategic plan 2015-2018.

There are (150) sports facilities and facilities in the country, the most prominent of which are:

  •  Aspire Academy.
  •  Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
  •  Sports Medicine Center.
  • Doha Golf Club stadium.
  •  Hamad Complex for Water Sports.
  •  Tennis hall for women.
  • Al-Wajba Girls Training Center.

International and regional tournaments

 The State of Qatar hosts many international tournaments that have highlighted Qatar on the Gulf, Arab and international sports map and attracted the world’s attention to it.
